Tribological mechanisms of slurry abrasive wear

چکیده
Abstract Abrasive wear mechanisms—including two-body and three-body abrasion—dominate the performance lifespan of tribological systems in many engineering fields, even those operating lubricated conditions. Bearing steel (100Cr6) pins discs a flat-on-flat contact were utilized experiments together with 5 13 µm Al 2 O 3 -based slurries as interfacial media to shed light on acting mechanisms. The results indicate that speed-induced hydrodynamic effect occurred significantly altered systems’ frictional behavior tests performed using slurry. Further revealed speed-dependent can lead 14% increase film thickness decrease friction around 2/3, accompanied by transition from abrasion change mechanism microcutting microploughing fatigue wear. Surprisingly, no correlation could be found between total amount state system during experiment; however, distribution over pin disc was observed significantly. This paper studies influence abrasive also highlights importance not only consider global

Modelling Friction and Abrasive Wear of Elastomers
In order to properly model the friction and wear of elastomer materials, it is essential to understand some specific mechanical and tribological features. Mechanical characteristics of elastomer materials are different from those of metals and other relatively hard materials. Elastomers can bear large deformations, the stress-strain curves are non-linear, time and temperature dependent. When th...

متن کاملEffect of Abrasive Particle Size on Abrasive Wear Resistance in Otomotive Steels
If one of the surfaces which are in touch is rough and hard, it chips the other surface due to relative motion or touching forces. The wear is called two-body abrasive wear. If there are free abrasive particles between the two bodies, the wear is called three-body abrasive wear. The free abrasive particles may be external material dust or the remains of chipping. Usually, the wear starts as a t...
متن کاملEvaluating abrasive wear of amorphous alloys using nanoscratch technique
The hardness and elastic modulus of several Zr, Pd, Cu, and La-based amorphous alloys were investigated using nanoindentation. Abrasive wear of these alloys was also evaluated and compared using nanoscratch techniques under a ramping load. Damage caused by scratching was examined using SEM. Material pile-up took place in all scratched samples, but to different degrees. The scratched surface was...
